Authentication

While writing this book, the authors followed the rule of only including varieties and colors as existing if an actual physical example had been seen. While not widespread, there are examples of alterations, reproductions, and repaints. The authors have also found that Web pictures cannot always be trusted, particularly in reference to color. There are also varieties that are undoubtedly not documented, particularly within the Modern range.
