About the Authors

Howard W. Melton earned his B.B.Ad. degree from Eastern New Mexico University and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition, he earned a M.S. degree and a Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University. Dr. Melton has been a lifelong collector. Although his original Barclay cars and trailer sets are long since gone, he played with these cars and trucks when he was a child. Without knowing the manufacturer's name, he began collecting the Barclay auto transport toys in 1970. This collection has since grown to be extremely comprehensive. Dr. Melton has written several books on accounting and legal subjects and is practicing attorney and business consultant.

Robert E. Wagner has collected toys for over 40 years. He was fascinated with the Barclay auto transport toys as a child and began observing the differences in the styles and colors of the various pieces. He still has a number of pieces that he had as a child. Over the years, his Barclay auto transport toy collection has grown to one of the largest and most complete in existence. Mr. Wagner is a skilled and expert restorer and is generally acknowledged as the leading expert on the Barclay auto transport toys. Mr. Wagner owns an auto collision center and restores antique cars in addition to toys, pedal cars, furniture, and other items.
